Yeah, why not just take it all the way back! Remove SC, Alchemy, lvl51 armour and roll back to old epics. Maybe make the frontier zones drop qua89-92 armour again (instead of the current 94-99). Let the ultimate optimized templates stay in "DAOC 2" (don't know what else to call it, our end of the evolution). Actually thinking back all the way to the times when WoW actually meant Wretch of Winter, it was almost a completely different game back then ("DAOC 1"?). Mobs were a lot more dangerous when everyone were running around in paper armour.
The backside is that armourcrafting will be next to useless again, as the old epic armour(!) is better. Weaponcrafting however will thrive.
Think of the nightmare to template a character without SCing... The horror. I bet they will keep SCing, just caus its faster to fix a template, and oldies are prune to stop playing Origins if it isn't easy to get a char going.
I'm personally rolling Hib on the Origins, if they don't do some sort of chartransfer-program from Classic. Then I have to think again.

as much i dislike toa, i really don't think this is a wise move for them to do this... as they are just splitting up all the server populations (think trey said this above). I still don't understand why goa opened the Spanish&Italian servers as im guessing a bit portion of those players originally played on the uk servers? i just don't think that its a good move in the game.
I doubt i will try this tbh, mainly because i hate starting from lvl1 with nothing hehe
Q. With the release of the ‘Origins’ server, are there still going to be patches on the live ToA servers for those of us who choose not to move?
A. The Bearded Wonder explains that the ‘Origins’ server is just another ruleset server: Updates and content for all servers will be ongoing.
Q. How far back will styles go for the ‘Origins’ server? Will it be the original styles or will be how they are in the game today?
A. The Balancinator’s eyes were a bit glazed over from focusing on a spreadsheet of balance, but says: The styles will be the current styles with some modifications to their effects.
Q. Is the current clip plane range going to be kept, or will the original game clip be used for ‘Origins?’
A. With his hand to his head pretending to block out the light for better vision, The Bearded Wonder says: The current clip plane will be used.
Q. What item bonuses are going to be available in the game? The FAQ mentions a number of specifics that will not be there, but many bonuses that originated in ToA now exist throughout the classic areas, especially in the revamped dragon zones. Are these items with those bonuses going to be available? I don't want to have to farm the dragon in order to get a competitive template.
A. The Bearded Wonder mentioned a pond frog so while I giggled, he said: The bonuses that are available on the new server will be primarily classic and items that need adjusting will have alternative versions available on this ruleset. That being said, you aren’t going to get dragon quality loot on a pond frog. There are naturally going to be items whose utility reward the risk taking to get them.
Q. Will there still be the new dragon items in game?
A. The dragons sure are popular! The Bearded Wonder confirms: There will be modifications to the dragon items for the ‘Origins’ server just like there were separate items on Classic and Gaheris.
Q. With Origins I understand you want the new archery system in place, but crossbowers and short bowers still use the old archery system, would they be switched to the new or the archers back to the old?
A. With a concentrated look, the Balancinator explains: No. As noted in the FAQ, the archery system will remain how it is currently on all servers. This means primary archers have the new system and the rest have the old system.
Q. Will anything at all be changed in keeps/relic keeps? Or will both remain exactly the same as they were before? Will it purely be keeps only that control Darkness Falls, or do you intend to have towers as part of the realm war?
A.The Bearded Wonder smiled and responded: There will be no towers like there are in NF. The keeps will determine ownership of DF. There will be cosmetic changes, but the overall feel and difficulty of the keeps should be consistent with the classic feel.
Q. What are your plans for the DAoC: Origins relic system?
A. The Bearded Wonder was quick to say: The relics should work like they did in OF.
I'm guessing Foundations will be excluded aswell, wich means limited vault space and we're back to interact player to player for trading. I'm guessing the Market Explorer here on the Red Shadows forums will come in handy.
but these are just going to be us servers atm yea? as i really dont fancy playing with that lag and also the time difference, would have to be up till around 6/7am for like good rvr hehe
It's still a long long time until Goa makes it to 1.95 that is currently on Pendragon, as we only just got 1.90 here. Therefore I think it's a long long time until Goa will consider it, but I think they eventually will, like always. There will probably be a survey about it.

I think its the opposite really. According to the devs they wanted to release it in aug/sep 2008 which ofc would have been denied due to failhammers release. There might be a chance that they will now (given these exra months) include SI maps to the origins server (no not SI classes).
Furthermore, there will be some sort of Spell crafting in the mix, that has been announced. I dont think it will hurt the population that much... The poll mythic made they we're most likely looking for "Im not playing daoc atm, but will try this if it releases". It will likely cut a fair amount of classic players tho. I also find it hard to believe that they will cancel it if they say that they are "pleased" that they will announce something soon.
Just a little side note... There have been some forum roumors about Mythic discussing a DAoC 2.0... While I ofc would lable this as trolling or just wet-gamer-dreams it was quite funny when Mythic announced that when 1.99 gets bumped it will be 1.100 and NOT 2.0.... Dream on! =)
Just to start it.... Id be happy with the same system, better graphics, 3 new realms, new classes and almost the same abilities/spells...

To be honest I'd be happy with the same game just redone. Change the content (quests, monsters) a bit, redesign the dungeons and make them larger/less pointless, make the zones larger and tweak the frontiers so we have both proper castles and outposts (not the stupid towers but the OF keeps imo) and realm specific castles in appearance in a larger and more thought out frontier area etc. Integrate all the expansion content better so, for example, SI isn't largely pointless. Bring back some of the old stuff and integrate it into one big happy thing - eg nuke the realm sides of PoC and add the middle to a better and redone version of old SH (I demand Sidhe Magickers that give entire battlegroups the fear once more!), reintroduce the old realm dungeons like Dodens Gruva et al to replace the current realm wings of PoC and integrate the whole lot properly with the labyrinth and possibly even DF.
But all that said, keep it still fundamentally the same game. Epic dungeons dragons and demons, RVR and sieges and relics.
'Twould be awesome, although it would kill WAR entirely.
