2 years ago, we discussed in this thread whether or not any of us would play Warhammer. Age of Conan and Vanguard was also mentioned, wich were both highly anticipated, but both failed. We still haven't heard anything about Darkfall. Warhammer however lacked appeal.
Many of us stayed in DAOC until the "end of Dyvet", wich we've sort of been experiencing for the last 2 years atleast, it's still declining and it's not much left now. The German super-cluster seems to be thriving, but Goa still don't care about the Dyvet players. Now I have a lot of bad experiences from Age of Conan, and I've been afraid to try Warhammer because of it. I'd hate to do the same mistake twice.
Anyway, back to the point, I've found new appeal to the Warhammer game in a thread in the guforums. Here a lot of different types of players have commented their experiences so far in Warhammer, and it actually awoke some interest in me. Ok I don't like the graphics of WAR as much as I like the graphics of DAOC and AOC, but it's not really that bad that it completely turns me off the idea of trying it (like WOW did).
Gameplaywise the PVE-grind sounds mostly boring as usual, so no surprise there, but what these people say about the RVR in WAR have really caught my ears (or eyes really). You don't have to do any PVE at all it seems, cause you can level in RVR. People seem to actually be grouping up in this game instead of doing everything solo as they used to. The RVR really sounds fun, when even those who have never even wanted to try it, tried it and got completely hooked!
Now I feel like I want to try this game afterall, even though I sadly didn't get the time to try the beta before it closed (had it downloaded on my pc and all). However it's way too expensive for me right now (the box cost like €70 or so, almost 600kr - it's crazy), so I'm gonna have to wait a month or two atleast.
What are your thoughts now, 2 years later?

For what it is worth, I think it is completely different from what it was 2 years ago, or even 1 year ago. I'd agree with most of those coments you linked to - it is just really good fun. First time I've felt really "good" about an mmo like I did when I first started playing DAoC.
If Aquamarine do decide to start playing WAR, you're more than welcome to join RS in an alliance there as well.
As for buying it...70euros sounds ridiculous! Where is that from?
I got mine from play.com but checking amazon.co.uk that currently is even cheaper - which in euros according to google works out to be around 34 euros. So it might be far cheaper to buy it in the UK and have it shipped over then to buy it in your local shop.
€34 (about 280kr) definitely sounds better, aye. Then I can consider it atleast. I'll see when I get time, and maybe the price drops to below €24 (200kr). I'm a cheap bastard I know, but atleast I'm not buying it before I know I have the time to play it.
The ugly and ridiculous figures I'd gotten from a mail I had from dlgamers.com but I had remembered incorrectly, and my mind had overexaggerated it a bit. It was €50 (413kr) really, although still way too expensive for my taste. Hehe.
Aquamarine is not anymore as large as it used to be, and after being GM for over 4.5 years in DAOC and not having so much time anymore wich also means less commitment (I know the same goes for most of the officers aswell), I'd think it would be more likely that we just joined RS in WAR like we did in AoC (as long as it lasted), those interested.
i have just bought my self WAR but not activated my account yet as im trying to use my DAoC account, but its being a pain :>. Trey what server are you on?
